SURGERY SERVICES
Pets sometimes develop a condition or suffer trauma that requires a veterinary surgical specialist who has extensive experience and specialized equipment needed to treat complicated cases.
Our specialty surgical services are provided by Dr. John A. Benson, a board certified veterinary surgeon who is specially trained in orthopedic and soft-tissue surgery to evaluate and repair trauma and treat disease, often with advanced medical equipment that is typically only found in a hospital like ours. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Benson has improved the health and quality of life of thousands of pets by:
evaluating and treating acute and chronic lameness
evaluating and treating traumatic and sports-related injuries
surgically managing cancers, upper airway diseases, and diseases of the chest and abdomen
performing reconstructive surgery and repair of traumatic wounds
performing urologic surgery, and
performing surgical and laparascopic biopsies that provide valuable diagnostic information
Working closely with your regular veterinarian, Dr. Benson can provide you with options and help determine the best treatment for your pet. And, if your pet has a procedure performed at VESH that requires overnight hospitalization, our team of ICU doctors and technicians have the expertise and the sophisticated medical equipment needed to ensure your pet’s comfort and care throughout the night. Your pet is never left alone at VESH, whatever the time of day or night.
Dr. Benson is assisted by two highly trained and experienced Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT). Melissa (pictured on the left with Mary on the right), who has been with VESH for 5 years, and Mary, who joined VESH a year ago, have the special skills needed to provide your pet with proper surgical and anesthesia support so you can rest assured that your pet is in good hands.
