INTERNAL MEDICINE

INTERNAL MEDICINE SERVICES

eterinary Internal Medicine Specialists evaluate, diagnose and treat many forms of cancer and other complicated and uncommon conditions and diseases in your pet.

Our internal medicine services are provided by Dr. Claire M. Weigand, a board certified internist, and Dr. Amanda Gerard, who are specially trained to diagnose and treat your pet’s internal problems, often with advanced medical equipment and medications (chemotherapy for instance) that are typically only found in a hospital like ours. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Weigand has treated thousands of pets for cancer, liver and kidney conditions, urinary tract problems, gastrointestinal disorders, endocrine and metabolic diseases, pain management, and respiratory problems.

You should consider asking your regular veterinarian for a referral to our Internal Medicine Department when:

  • Your pet has received a cancer diagnosis
  • Your pet’s disease is uncommon, chronic, or complicated (multiple diseases)
  • Your pet is not responding to current treatments for their condition or disease
  • Your pet’s problem does not go away and is undiagnosed after standard testing
  • Your pet is suffering from chronic pain
  • Your pet needs more extensive diagnostics including imaging, ultrasound, endoscopy, biopsy or cytology
  • Your pet would benefit from 24-hour monitoring
